Emergency aid and advice for international students
The ESG (Lutheran student community) offers advice and help for international students regarding life and studies as well as support in case of financial distress.
Informations for international students:
You’re currently in financial distress and want to know about possibilities of financial support? Hereafter, you’ll find out about the requirements you need to fulfill as well as the needed documents.
We might be able to support you financially for a maximum of three months, if you find yourself in financial distress through no fault of your own, and your country of origin is centered in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe or any other OECD-country. We could possibly offer you financial support, if you find yourself (for example) in an exam situation, participate in an internship, study for your first degree or are currently ill or had an accident.
We need the following documents in order to process your application:
- The filled out Personalblatt
- A seperate letter, in which you explain what caused the situation you find yourself in currently as well as how much money you need.
- a list of your monthly costs (rent, telephone, clothes etc.)
- a copy of your visa and/or passport
You need to be able to verify that you reside in Germany according to the conditions outlined in §16 of the Residence Law.
- A copy of the confirmation of your study registration / study process, including your credits (transcript of records)
- a (brief) CV
- all your bank account statements (ALL your banks) from the last three months
- In case you have children, please include birth certificates.
- Signed „Consent form“
Please send your documents to our secretary – Mrs. Uhrmeister. All consultations are subject to confidentiality.
All financial emergency aids are discussed within AKIS, the workgroup „international students“.
In cooperation with the University (Berit Hupke), the Studierendenwerk (Mike Pillardy and Concetta Mugavero) and the KHG (Catholic student community, Benedikt Ströher-Eisenach), we will do our best to find a way to support international students.
